Step into the Glory of Sri Lanka's Medieval Capital
Located around 6 hour drive up north east towards the ‘Cultural Triangle’ from Colombo. Polonnaruwa is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka which is caring extensive ruins from the 11th and early 14th centuries.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site complex is a treasure for the history buff, significant Buddhist and Hindu monuments every few meters apart from each other, such as the Gal Vihara, the Polonnaruwa Vatadage, ‘Satmahal Prasada’ – a seven-storey edifice, the Palace of King Parakramabahu, statue of King Parakramabahu and countless others, along the picturesque Parakrama Samudraya(Tank).
